Re: Vitalise I Possessing God
It is amazing to discover that God is willing not just to give us things, gifts, materials or goods, however beautiful or useful. He offers his very self unto us for possession.
Our call is not to possess things, but to inherit God himself.
“In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim, and the Horites in their hill country of Seir as far as El-paran on the border of the wilderness. Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat (that is, Kadesh) and defeated all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who were dwelling in Hazazon-tamar. Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) went out, and they joined battle in the Valley of Siddim with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar, four kings against five. Now the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell into them, and the rest fled to the hill country. So the enemy took all the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way. They also took Lot, the son of Abram’s brother, who was dwelling in Sodom, and his possessions, and went their way. Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner. These were allies of Abram. When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, 318 of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus. Then he brought back all the possessions, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his possessions, and the women and the people. After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley). And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.) And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!” And Abram gave him a tenth of everything. And the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself.” But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted my hand to the Lord, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth, that I would not take a thread or a sandal strap or anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’ I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me. Let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share.” Genesis 14:5-24 ESV
God blessed Abram, Melchizedek, the high priest of the most High God blessed him, but before he was blessed he was first offered the bread and wine of heaven, after that Melchizedek blessed him. This is the first step in walking with God and in possessing God, to be an heir of God you must eat the bread that comes from heaven; even Jesus himself was not exempt; anyone who refuses to eat the bread and drink the wine does not have the life of God in them.
After Abraham receiving the bread and wine, Melchizedek pronounced blessings upon him, he didn't bless Abraham with physical goods but he blessed him with invisible blessings; one would expect that his goods will increase immediately and the blessings of the womb will manifest soon after the encounter; however Abraham remained physically childless many years after this.
After the encounter, Abraham's response to the offer of the King of Sodom shows that he preferred God's blessings upon his life than what a man can give, he preferred the invisible to the visible blessings.
Let us explore Genesis 15: 1-6 :-
“After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.” And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir.” And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.” Genesis 15:1-6 ESV
Just as it can happen to any man, fear came upon Abraham after he had rejected, he had his fears; fear of insecurity in a foreign land, fear of childlessness and fear of the future; God knew Abraham's fears and spoke into his situation "Fear not Abraham". God offered Himself as Abraham' shield, to protect and shield him from the attacks of the enemy; He also offered Himself as Abraham's exceeding great reward. God thought of what blessing to give Abraham and He found no blessing would be enough for him than God himself.
So God gave himself unto Abraham as his possession, his exceeding great reward. Even though he did not possess anything much more physically and yet he had no child, Abraham now become possessor of heaven and earth, This possession is invisible but real, it was the turning point in the life of Abraham because he rejected the physical and touchable offered by men.
God is the Possessor of Heaven and Earth, he is able to meet every need out of nothing. He can use things that are visible and invisible to meet needs, the supply of Abraham needs were guaranteed. For all who pursue the possession of nothing but God, you are heavenly banking. You may not have money in your purse but whenever a need arises, God always mobilises resources at your time of need. Even if you are stranded in an unknown place and you need men to help you physically, God the Possessor of Heaven and Earth says ( Ezekiel 18:4)
He will mobilise, even unbelievers to run around for you ; the reason why many believers resist plunging completely into the service of the Kingdom is mainly because of lack of assurance of future security and provisions. So they hold God with one hand, and other "possessions" with the other hand.
“Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him.” Mark 1:16-18 ESV

What do you believe?
#Christianity is the life of #God (the Creator) in human beings (that's us). What this means, practically, is that each day, you take steps to get to know this God, through His Word, the Bible (https://classic.biblegateway.com) ,by building a relationship with Him, through faith in Jesus Christ.
In the same way, as soon as your baby is born, in fact from the moment you "know" that you are pregnant, you spend time getting to know the baby, letting them know that each day
I ask you, then, would you like to be in a relationship with #God, the God of the Bible, the God that made this beautiful earth, through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?
The God that gave Jesus Christ to us:
This the WHAT
John 3:16-18 The Message (MSG)
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him."**
And we (using #faith, a bit like #electricity, we know it's there because the lights come on) accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and get to know Him each day, as we would our own dear friends, loved ones, a spouse.
This is the WHY
"It’s crucial that we keep a firm grip on what we’ve heard so that we don’t drift off. If the old message delivered by the angels was valid and nobody got away with anything, do you think we can risk neglecting this latest message, this magnificent salvation? First of all, it was delivered in person by the Master, then accurately passed on to us by those who heard it from him. All the while God was validating it with gifts through the Holy Spirit, all sorts of signs and miracles, as he saw fit."**
In exchange for following Jesus you will receive peace, freedom, joy (that's laughter whilst your awake, peace whilst you sleep), it will be hard, your friends may disown you because you've become "one of us" but guess what even if you have a tough day, you will never be alone again.
Read this prayer along with me:
This is your YES
"Lord Jesus, thank You for giving Your life for me and forgiving me of my sins so I can have a personal relationship with You. I am sincerely sorry for the mistakes I've made, and I know I need You to help me live right.
Your Word says in Romans 10:9, "If you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His Power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
I believe You are the Son of God, and I confess You as my Saviour and Lord. Take me just as I am, and work in my heart, making me the person You want me to be. I want to live for You, Jesus, and I am so grateful to You for giving me a fresh start in my new life with You today. I love you, Jesus!"**
