Why on earth did I decide to write and publish a book of poems during my NQT year!!!!!
What was I thinking? ?
So my book "Not Just A Mother" was a response to a rumour that started in a school that I worked in...
Is she really qualified?
Where did she train?
Does she even have a degree?
She's just a mother...
It was the worst feeling in the world, starting a new role, with people asking: " So, where exactly did you train?"
This book was a response to the critics and skeptics and a voice for every mother that ever felt like that (being a mum) was all she could ever do.
Here are 3 tips to get you started on your writing journey
What is your story?
Create a timeline of the last 5 years and what you have achieved.
Who needs to hear your story?
Share your story with others, whatever you are truly passionate about will just start to show.
How will you get your story out there?
Write down exactly what you feel, think and hope. If you can do that, continue to do that and enjoy it- people will simply begin to listen.
Here is a little part of my story...
I am LEADER.
I am FRIEND.
I am DOCTOR.
I am BOOKEND.
Holding things together
Prying rambunctious toddlers apart.
I am a wonderful mass.
I am a work of art.
I love, I embrace, I take part in the annual three-legged-race.
I kiss faces,
Untangle shoe laces,
Create warm spaces In heart, mind, soul and bed.
I clean defecation.
I run the stay-cations.
I clean the puddles just beside the potty.
